Today’s stories include Robin Hansen on Human Civilization as a random sample of the “Power Law,” and more.
Chaotically shifting planets could be a sign of advanced aliens--"Planets that orbit at very similar distances from their stars could jockey for position while still remaining in a broadly stable configuration for billions of years – long enough to be spotted by astronomers. Such star systems might be so unlikely that they could only be created artificially, by advanced alien civilizations," reports Alex Wilkins for New Scientist.
‘Very Large’ Radio Telescope Array Will Scan for Alien Signals, reports Isaac Schultz for Gizmodo--"The array could shed more light on the bursts whose origins have yet to be fully understood. For example, in 2021, a corkscrewing radio burst emanating from near the center of the Milky Way was briefly detected, but astronomers don’t know what produced it."
Aliens may be looking for Earth but can't find us - study--"Humanity has been looking for aliens for decades but has yet to find any evidence. A new study suggests we may just be in a sort of cosmic blind spot for alien radio signals," the peer-reviewed academic periodical The Astronomical Journal reports. "Their 18-pound brains have neocortex's and spindle cells for higher-order thinking, emotions, memory, language, and love. They could be the most intelligent beings on this planet."
Scientist proposes new theory as to why humans have never been contacted by aliens-- "We’ve only been looking for 60 years,” observes Claudio Grimaldi from EPFL’s Laboratory of Statistical Biophysics told EPFL while discussing his research. "The “optimistic” camp holds that we’ve been using detectors that are not sensitive enough or missed incoming signals because we’ve been pointing our radio telescopes in the wrong direction. "
